Description
IGF-1 DES (1-3) is a modified form of insulin-like growth factor-1, missing the first three amino acids of the full-length IGF-1 molecule. This modification results in up to tenfold greater biological activity in preclinical studies, especially in damaged or inflamed tissues. Its shorter half-life allows for highly localized activity, making it a focus in research involving targeted tissue regeneration, cellular proliferation, and recovery.
Unlike standard IGF-1, which is regulated by IGF binding proteins (IGFBPs), IGF-1 DES has reduced affinity for these proteins, allowing for greater receptor activation in isolated or damaged cells. It has been studied for its potential effects in muscle regeneration, neural growth, injury repair, and anti-aging models.
How IGF-1 DES Works:
-
Binds directly to IGF-1 receptors to stimulate cellular growth and repair
-
Bypasses IGFBP inhibition for increased localized potency
-
Shorter half-life supports targeted application and limits systemic activity
-
Commonly researched for muscle, nerve, and connective tissue repair
Potential Benefits (Based on Preclinical Research):
-
Enhanced tissue regeneration and recovery in damaged areas
-
Support for lean muscle growth and injury rehabilitation
-
Potential neuroprotective and anti-aging properties
-
Ideal for localized, short-term cellular activation in research models
