Description
KPV (Lysine-Proline-Valine) is a naturally occurring tripeptide derived from the C-terminal end of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), a peptide known for its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects. KPV retains the key biological activity of α-MSH without engaging melanocortin receptors responsible for pigmentation, making it a targeted and non-pigmenting anti-inflammatory agent in preclinical research.
It has been studied in models of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), autoimmune dysfunction, wound healing, and dermatological inflammation, with promising results in reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-6, and IFN-γ.
How KPV Works (Based on Preclinical Research):
-
Reduces inflammation by downregulating key pro-inflammatory cytokines
-
Bypasses melanogenic activity for targeted, non-hormonal immune support
-
Modulates immune cell signaling and epithelial repair pathways
-
Suitable for topical, oral, or injectable research models
Potential Benefits (Based on Preclinical Research):
-
May support treatment of colitis and intestinal barrier integrity
-
Accelerated healing of skin, soft tissue, and mucosal linings
-
Reduced local and systemic inflammatory responses
-
No pigmentation or hormonal disruption observed in studies
